Facebook has a free tool known as Facebook Business Manager. This is an amazing tool as it allows every business page owner to manage all their business pages and business requests in one place.

How will it help manage your business page better?

The business manager provides a separate login and dashboard from where you can manage pages of your businesses, manage business pages for another business, or even give access to someone else to manage your page.

Business Manager Description

How does it work?

When you log into Facebook, you see a notification wall that shares all the feeds of your friends, groups, and pages that you follow. Compare this area to your house which hosts all your friends and family.

Similarly, you can consider Facebook’s business manager as a store from where you run your business. The clients that you handle and the employees that you hire, all in one convenient location that is not imposing in your “home”.

What is the relation between my Facebook profile and the Business Manager?

Your Facebook profile allows you to create multiple pages dedicated to your business or community causes, which is much similar to starting a business. Having a page is highly recommended before creating a Business Manager account.

Once you create a page, you can go to create an ad, and Facebook will automatically redirect you to the ad manager page. Once you agree to the terms and conditions, your profile will become a personal ad account. This is similar to forming a marketing team that will market the business.

From ads manager, you can go to business settings where you will have to create a business account.

To create a business account you need to provide the name of your business and the email id where you will be contacted for all business notifications. Then add in your business address and website. The “website” can be a link to your Facebook page as well. This is similar to renting a commercial space to operate your business.

After this, your Business Manager profile is created.

How to use the Business Manager Profile?

Now, you can use the Business Manager in two ways:

  1. To hire someone to manage and optimize your business page, or,
  2. To manage and optimize the business page(s) of others

To Hire Someone to Manage and Optimise your Business Page:

You first need to link your page to the Business Manager account.

You can do that in the following way,

  1. Go to business settings
  2. Under the “Accounts” dropdown, select “Pages”

3. Click on ADD. You can select an existing page or you can create a new page for your business.

4. Once you add your page, I highly recommend you click on “Add” once again and a pop-up will show up asking you to choose a primary page. Select your main business page and this will become your primary page

5. Next, go to “Add Ad Accounts” under the “Accounts” section, and add your personal ad account (recommended) or you can add the ad account of the person who will manage your page.

6. You can link your Instagram account to Business Manager to manage your ads better

And you are good to go!

The only difference between adding your own ad account and someone else’s ad account is fund loading and access to the ads running.

When you add your personal ad account, you can load the funds in your account and the person managing your account can run the ads using your ad account. Additionally, all the ads for your page and funds added will be under your account and control.

Do note that if you want someone to manage your page completely, you will have to grant them, admin access.

This will allow you to retain the ownership of your page while someone else manages it. Similar to hiring a marketing team to market or promote your business.

To Manage and Optimize Business Pages of other businesses:

To manage the business page of other businesses, first, create/add your own business page to the account and set it as your primary page. This allows the existence of your Business Manager Account to be independent of the pages you manage

Then the steps are,

  1. In the “Accounts” dropdown, go to “Pages” and click on “Add”
  2. Depending on whether you want to create a new page or access an existing page, select the option applicable to you.

3. To get access to a page, click on “request access” and enter the page name or business manager ID, and select it. Usually, to manage a Facebook page, you would need almost all permissions other than the “jobs” permission.

Request Access

4. Once the admin grants you access to the page, you can start managing it.

Note that the page you want to manage should be linked to a business account as well.

Here, you are the marketing team that is promoting a business.

Next, you would want to add an “Ad Account”, preferably of the admin of the page. You click on “Accounts” dropdown and select “Ad Accounts” and click on “Add”.

Requesting access to an ad account

You can add an ad account that you own, or you can request access to any existing ad account. It is not compulsory for a person to have a business manager account to grant access to an ad account.

Once approved, you can start managing and running ads on the business page.

In Summary:

Facebook Business Manager acts as a platform from where you can hire others to handle and market your business pages or you can be the marketer who manages multiple business pages.

It takes a bit of time to get used to but once you get a grasp of it, it can drastically help segregate work from the personal feed.

I hope you found this article helpful and gained a bit of insight into the Facebook Business Manager tool.
